Best beaded jewelry kits for beginners

I’ve made jewelry for over 20 years and these are the beginner kits I’d genuinely recommend.
If you’re new to jewelry making, choosing the right beading starter kit can save you money, a bit of frustration, and a drawer full of tools you’ll never use. I’ve tested and reviewed four jewelry making starter kits below for adults or teens which are perfect for beginners who just want to give jewelry making a go.

kit for jewelry making

The four kits…
1. Sabrikas Beaded Jewelry Making kit – My No.1
2. Shynek Jewelry Making Starter Kit
3. Hi‑Spec 17pc Jewelry Making Tool Kit
4. Hongteya 28 Colours Crystal Jewelry Making Kit

Below I’ve looked at all four individually based on first impressions, quality, who it’s great for.

1. Sabrikas Jewelry Making Kit

Sabrikas Beaded Jewellery Making Starter Kit for adults unboxing

First Impressions

Unboxing this beginners jewelry kit feels like stepping into a tiny, well-stocked bead shop – everything’s beautifully packaged and thoughtfully laid out. It’s a clear step up from the rest and the usual craft-box suspects, which makes it a brilliant jewelry crafting gift to give as well as a treat for yourself. Inside you’ll find an impressive 1,600 seed beads in a rainbow of colours as well as plenty of gorgeous acrylic beads, a how-to start jewelry making booklet to guide absolute beginners on the basics, and even a soft jewelry pouch to store your finished masterpieces!…yes WOW!

It’s made by Sabrikas, a brand with a solid reputation among crafters – and honestly, it shows. The materials feel great for a starting point, the variety of colours is inspiring. If you’re serious about starting your jewelry-making journey, this one’s a little gem to practice with.

Quality & Materials

The wires, elastic, beads and plated findings are simular to most beginner kits, while not high-end (they’re still in hobby-kit territory), they are great for starting and practicing though. Wires and elastic maybe more choice and colours than other kits. And the tools are remarkably good and strong. It offers great quantity and you’ll feel confident producing pieces to practice your skills.

What I Love

  • Love the added beading technique booklet
  • Lots of colourful acrylic beads, many kits don’t include beads
  • The jewelry pouch…awesome!
  • Great strong tools

Who It’s Good For

  • The perfect gift for a jewellery beginner
  • Someone who wants to start practicing
  • Teen-friendly
  • Hobbyists
  • Relaxing hobby kit

What you can make

  • Earrings
  • Stretch bracelets
  • Wire bracelets & Necklaces

If you want one kit that won’t limit you after the first week, this is the one I’d start with >>

2. Shynek Jewelry Making Kit

First Impressions

This kit came in a clear bag, no fancy box for gifting. It’s packed with 1,830 pieces of plated findings, multiple pliers, tweezers, a measuring tape, and a zip-up organiser case that keeps everything tidy (a huge bonus). The first impression is all about volume – this is a kit that means business. Not 100% sure on the magnifier, I feel like this jewellery kit would have been better if this was replaced with some colourful beads instead as you would need to purchase these extra.

It doesn’t have quite the luxe feel of the Sabrikas set above, but what it lacks in presentation it makes up for in practicality and findings. There’s something satisfying about knowing you’ve got enough bits and pieces to experiment freely without worrying about running out. Whether you’re testing different earring designs, fixing broken jewellery, or teaching yourself basic wirework, this kit gives you room to experiment and practice technique.

It’s ideal for jewellery beginners or improvers who want to experiment with techniques and try different jewellery types without investing heavily in separate supplies. And the zip case? That’s a win for anyone who likes to keep chaos contained.

Quality & Materials

The tools are decent beginner tools like most kits, not ‘studio professional’. Wire and elastic although thin, it’s great for practicing. The findings in the kit are all plated, but good enough to start making jewellery. So, a great starter jewellery kit, but like any starter kit the tools and findings are created for beginners so you might want to replace/find better tools over time on most of these kits if you really get into it.

What I Love

  • Tons of findings, lots of flexibility
  • You’d be like a kid in a sweet shop if you were gifted this!
  • Good ‘all in one kit‘ for trying lots of styles (earrings, bracelets, necklaces or repairs)

Who It’s Good For

  • Beginners dream!
  • Someone wanting to focus on findings and techniques
  • Great for craft nights as so much content.
  • A great kit for hobbyist
  • Perfect for adults and teens

3. Hi-Spec 17pc Jewellery Making Tool Kit

First Impressions

This little kit is all about the tools – a compact 17-piece set (including box) neatly packed into its own sturdy grey box, along with around 600 findings to get you started. The first impression is tidy, organised, and reassuringly practical. It feels more like a proper toolkit than a ‘craft starter kit’, which makes it a great choice if you already have beads or materials and just need the right gear to bring your ideas together.

The pliers, cutters, and tweezers are fairly decent quality for the price, and the case keeps everything exactly where it should be. It’s not overloaded with decorative bits – you won’t find colourful bead assortments here – but that’s what makes it appealing for anyone who wants to focus on the making side rather than the shiny distractions.

It’s the kind of kit that gets you properly on the jewelry-making ladder. And if you end up falling headfirst into the bead world like the rest of us, you’ll probably upgrade a few tools over time for fancier versions. But as a beginner foundation, it’s a very good start.

Quality & Materials

Again good for the price, but the ’17pc’ suggests fewer tools, meaning you may hit limitations (e.g., fewer sizes of plier, fewer wire types) compared to fuller kits. Findings count (600) is okay, but could be good with a few other options, . It’s more of a ‘tool + basics‘ rather than full creative kit, you still need to purchase beads.

What I Love

  • Great if you already have beads and just need a few good little starter tools
  • Compact, organised tidy tool set.

Who It’s Good For

  • Hobbyist’s wanting a little tool-kit
  • Someone focusing on skills/tools rather than massive variety of beads and findings
  • Great for beginners, adults, teens, hobbyists.

4. Hongteya Crystal Jewellery Making Kit

First Impressions

If your happy place is a table scattered with beads, beads, and more beads (me too!), this kit will make your creative heart sing. Basic presentation on arrival. Inside are 28 different colours of natural gemstone and crystal beads, along with a selection of elastic cords, charms, and findings – everything you need to dive straight into beading bliss.

It’s a riot of colour. Opening the box feels a bit like discovering a treasure chest – bright, cheerful, and instantly inspiring. The variety makes it easy to experiment with combinations or design coordinating sets, and there’s enough quantity to make several full bracelets/earrings right away.

This one’s more about fun and flow than precision toolwork. It’s ideal for beginners, teens, or anyone who wants to unwind with some mindful bead-stringing or earring making. The quality is good – it’s not a pro kit (non of these are) – it’s a play kit. But for an afternoon of colour therapy and creativity, it’s an absolute joy. Limited on tools. Not sure the ring items are a must and to be honest it would have been better for these to be replaced with some cutters.

Quality & Materials

While colourful and fun, this kit is definitely more on the ‘craft & hobby’ side of jewelry making. The focus is more on quantity, creativity and fun colours rather than higher-quality findings or professional finishes, so it’s a lovely place to start experimenting and seeing if you enjoy the hobby.

One thing worth noting though is that it doesn’t really come with much in the way of instructions or a proper beginner booklet, so complete beginners may find themselves a little lost.

What I Love

  • Fantastic for creative bursts, colour experiments
  • Earring experimenting
  • Great value

Who It’s Good For

  • Beginners who want to dive straight into making colourful bracelet epieces.
  • Hobby crafters stamping out fun items for friends, school projects, gifts, great teen jewellery kit
  • Someone who wants to try fun wire wrap rings

Final Thoughts

All the kits are super for anyone who loves a good jewelry craft session (and actually wants bits that won’t fall apart mid-bracelet). But, the Sabrikas kit stood out to me. It’s that mix of great quality, great first impressions, and loads of materials to start you off, no need to go out and buy anything further. So, overall a cute little gift for jewelry lovers to get as a gift.
