Putting on weight

tiny tips

Nope… not that kind of weight!

I’m talking about the weight of your jewelry, and how it quietly messes with how ‘valuable’ a piece feels in someone’s hand.

There’s a funny little misconception most customers don’t even realise they have:
if it feels weighty… it must be good. Solid. Worth it.

A bit ooh hello, this is nice.

And if it feels a bit light.
Even if it’s beautifully made… it can land slightly underwhelmingly.
It’s not logical. But it is very real.

So over the years, I’ve learnt to give certain pieces a little help in that department.
Not by making them bulky, just by being a bit clever with where I add weight.

One of my favourite sneaky tricks…
Swap out a basic jump ring for something a little more substantial, like an oval spring clasp (like the one below). It instantly adds a bit of weight, feels more secure, and just gives the piece a slightly more “finished” feel overall. I use these all the time now.

You can find the exact ones I use here if you want to give them a go on your pieces.

I use these on charm bracelets, charms, stretch bracelets, necklaces and wire bracelets.

It’s the kind of tiny tweak that most people couldn’t point out.
but they’ll feel it.
