Upgrade your stretch bracelets

A few small tweaks and suddenly you’ve got boutique vibes.
Who knew stretch bracelets had so much potential?

I’ve gathered a few simple ways to mix things up a bit. Nothing drastic, just enough to give them a bit more of a wow factor… Let’s go bold people!

Firstly, let’s go chunky!

Going huge with your stretch bracelets is a quick way to make them feel more modern and considered. Swap out those small beads for chunky oversized ones, 10mm, 12mm, or even 16mm if you dare 😮, the whole piece instantly has far more presence. You’ll use fewer beads too 🤗. Simple upgrade, but it makes a very noticeable difference.

Just don’t forget to go thicker on your elastic, 1mm or above is your safest bet. And if you’re not quite sure what to choose (or why your bracelets keep having a little mid-life crisis), have a quick read of my best elastic guide here.

Mixed materials

Instead of sticking to just one type of bead, try combining stone, glass, wood, metal, even shell in a single bracelet. You get contrast in texture, weight, and finish, which instantly makes the piece feel more designed and layered. The trick is to keep the colours working together so it still feels cohesive, not chaotic. Done well, it looks relaxed and natural. I love this style!

Posh versions

If you want your stretch bracelets to feel a bit more… classy, this is where you elevate things. Swap in sterling silver, gold filled, gold vermeil or even solid gold accents, and pair them with semi-precious stones rather than dyed, plated or plastic beads. The overall look becomes more refined, and far more giftable. You don’t need to go overboard either, a few quality elements mixed in can lift the whole piece and make it feel special.

Why not try creating your own humble stacking bracelet here, super simple, versatile, and surprisingly effective.

Sets

Designing stretch bracelets as a set is a lovely way to give your bracelets more appeal. Instead of hoping pieces work together, you’re creating a ready-made trio that already feels balanced, perhaps one slightly chunkier, one more delicate, or one with a bit of texture or detail. Worn together, they look styled and intentional, but each one can still stand on its own. Easy to wear and easy to gift.

Or, why not try a double wrap bracelet, it’s an easy way to add instant interest without overcomplicating your design. Follow my step-by-step tutorial here.

Personalised

Add a little initial bead, a tiny engraved pendant, or sneak a little letter in between your beads and it instantly feels more thoughtful, more considered. Initials are always a winner (there’s a reason they never go out of style), whether it’s for a child, a partner, or even your own. It’s a small detail, but it’s the one that makes people go a bit soft and say things like, “Oh I’ll never take this off,” which, let’s be honest, is exactly what we want!

Well… that escalated quickly.
One minute I’m threading a few beads, the next I’ve got a full-blown stack situation and they look like they belongs in a boutique window with an intimidating price tag.

Not bad for a bit of elastic and a few beads.
It’s quite hard to go back to ‘just a basic bracelet’ again 🤗
