Best glue for stretch bracelet knots

Jewelry glue is one of those quiet little decisions you don’t think much about… until your stretch bracelet betrays you. Usually at the most inconvenient moment possible.

After years (and many, many bracelets), I’ve settled on just two glues I trust for my elastic pieces. Stretch bracelets are a bit particular, so not every glue makes my cut.

Below are the two I come back to time and time again >>>

1. G-S Hypo Cement Glue

Great for precise spots. However, tiny public service announcement, the nozzle is so fine that putting the lid back on can feel like threading a needle. I reach for my magnifier every time (but we’ll blame the glue, not my eyesight) 🤗

This thin formula stays flexible and dries clear, ideal for tying off knots on beaded bracelets or tiny accents without a big glue blob due to it’s needle like application. No ugly opaque residue either. One of my go to glue’s for detail. It’s a firm favourite of mine.

Perfect for: finishing small knots, attaching tiny beads/gem accents, working on delicate metal components. As always, leave to dry overnight.

2. High Strength Oily Glue

This is my favourite choice for everyday hidden work where durability and high strength really matter. I also use it on my stretch bracelet knots, slightly controversial, I know, given it isn’t a flexible glue.

But in real-world use, it has worked beautifully for me. I send out a high volume of stretch bracelets each day and returns for breakage are genuinely very low. While some makers worry that a non-flexible glue could damage the elastic over time, that simply hasn’t been my experience.

That said, the key is restraint. I use the teeny tiniest of dots, just enough to secure the knot, never to soak it.

Chef’s kiss 😘

👀 Dries Clear 🏋🏻‍♂️ Very Strong 💦 Waterproof 🪢 Great for hidden knots

Perfect for: heavier stones, metal findings requiring a very strong hold, parts that might see stress or regular wear. Very durable glue options. Leave to dry overnight.

So there you have it, two of my tried-and-tested favourites. See how you get on with them.

As always with jewellery making, the ‘best’ glue often depends on the materials in front of you. But if you’re making stretch bracelets and want a neat, secure hold, both of these have worked really well for me.

Enjoy making!
