5 Best Jewelry Plier Stands

If you’re anything like me, your jewelry desk has a habit of slowly disappearing beneath a mountain of pliers… I do own quite a few pairs!

One minute everything is so neatly organised. The next minute it’s not.

After twenty years of making jewelry, I’ve learned that a good plier stand isn’t exactly the most exciting purchase you’ll ever make. But, it will keep your tools within easy reach, which is a must!

So if you’re tired of hunting every five minutes, here are five of the best jewelry plier stands worth considering…

1. Wooden Plier Block Stand

Best for: Small jewelry desks

Pro’s

• They come in different length sizes and shapes!
• Cheap and simple block design
• Keeps tools upright and visible

Con’s

• Holes can be too small for some plier handles
• Can be fiddly getting pliers in and out quickly
• Holds less pliers than the other options

2. Acrylic Plier Organizer

Best for: Modern studios and makers who want everything visible

Pro’s

• Looks modern, clean and professional
• Doesn’t visually clutter your desk
• Holds any plier size
• Easy to clean

Con’s

• Takes up a little more desk space
• Acrylic can scratch over time

3. Wooden Dowel Plier Organizer

Best for: Makers who use lots of pliers throughout the day

Pro’s

• Holds the most pliers out of the stand options
• Holds different plier sizes well
• Sturdy

Con’s

• Takes up a lot more desk space
• Small tools may slip through the dowels

4. Beadsmith Tool & Spool Rack

Best for: Makers who want to keep both their pliers and wires organized in one place.

Pro’s

• One compact unit
• Super easy access to wires & elastics
• Keeps your desk looking more organised

Con’s

• Holds fewer pliers than some plier stands
• Wire spools vary in size, so some fit better than others
• Not as quick to grab tools from

5. Beadsmith Silicone Plier Holder

Best for: Makers with very limited desk space or young teen makers

Pro’s

• Very compact
• Lightweight and easy to move around your desk
• Holds pliers upright and visible
• Soft silicone-style holes help grip handles securely
• Modern, colourful design
• Easy to clean or rinse

Con’s

• Limited capacity compared to larger stands
• May not be heavy enough to stay put during frequent tool grabbing
• Silicone sections may wear over time with heavy use

Just Remember!

When choosing a plier stand, think about how you actually work at your desk. The best one isn’t necessarily the prettiest, it’s the one that makes your life easier.

Ask yourself:

  • Capacity – How many pliers does it actually hold?
  • Desk footprint – Will it fit comfortably in your workspace, especially if you’re short on room?
  • Visibility & appearance – Can you easily see your tools, and do you like how it looks on your desk?
  • Stability & durability – Will it stay put when you’re constantly grabbing tools?
  • Ease of access – How quickly can you grab and return your pliers while you’re working? This is probably the most important factor of all.

At the end of the day, a plier stand should save you time, reduce clutter, and stop you rummaging around your desk muttering.

What I chose

I chose a Wooden plier block stand – my stand holds eight tools.
Which would be perfect if I only owned eight pliers!

Unfortunately, I appear to collect pliers in much the same way some girls collect shoes.
One pair for jump rings, one for looping, one for tight spaces, one because the handles are a nicer colour…

My overflow pliers now lives in a vintage metal container beside my desk, while my favourites get prime position in the stand 🤗
